On the bright side, they do have 4wd back which is very nice. They feel it may be possible to move up to fourth overall but the 4 minute gap to third may be a little too much to overcome.

Sat 07-Jun-03 23:51 Update on the DNF for Car 137, Smith/Smith - G2 - 1968 MGB GT. They impacted a tree on Special Stage 3. The Smith's were both conscious at the scene but were transported to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro for observation. They were released and seen walking out of the hospital around 6pm this evening.

He said he doesn't get to meet his east coast counterparts very often and has enjoyed this event. He said the spectator areas were managed well and that the spectators seemed to be enjoying the event and cooperating with the new spectating guidelines.

After a fast section of road the team missed a tight right hand corner and crashed through the gate. To add insult to injury, the gate slammed shut behind them and the co-driver had to get out and open it so they could get back on course.

A steady downpour for the last several hours along with rain throughout last evening has resulted in the cancellation of Special Stage 1-the infamous water crossing. There will be an alternate Special Stage 1 run of approximately 6 miles however no Stage Notes will be available-only tulip instructions. There is a delay noted of one hour for the start from the green.....the new time for First Car Out will be 11:31 Eastern time.
