| Fri 03-Jun-05 17:11 | The Susquenhannock Trail ProRally events have begun. Registration has been ongoing throughout the day, with 56 teams entering. The practice stage, which went from 1-5 PM today was well attended, despite the pouring rain (that seems to have become a mainstay at this event). The seeded draw has been done and the start list is posted, the top five are as follows: Car 27, Gilligan / Peterson Car 18, Iorio / Holter Car 65, Blomqvist / Gullick Car 43, Block / Gelsomino Car 11, Choiniere / Becker |
| Fri 03-Jun-05 17:23 | Some notes from the event so far: As Car 947 was packing to come yesterday, they experienced overheating issues and realized they would need to replace the head gasket if they were going to be able to run this weekend. It was a long night for the team, but they are here!!! The car is running, but will still need to do some tuning and tweaking tonight to get the car to peak performance. The Vermont SportsCar crew of the Car 199, Pastrana / Edstrom also had a long night as they needed to replace some rear end pieces after a mishap with the car yesterday at a sponsor event, but in Vermont SportsCar fashion, the car is back in fine shape today and looking great. |
| Fri 03-Jun-05 17:33 | Some images from the soggy service area for Friday practice. |
| Fri 03-Jun-05 17:35 | Notes from the practice stage: Car 153, Langbein / Wimpey hit a yump, and went off. There appears to be bumper damage on the driver's side and the wheel is pushed back. Car 43, Block / Gelsomino is also being reported as off. Apparently, the team thought they would try a water crossing today (in anticipation for the Subaru Splash tomorrow), unfortunately, they only succeeded in "swamping" the car. There appears to be no damage and they are pulling the car out. |
| Fri 03-Jun-05 17:40 | Crews work on the cars between practice runs. |
| Fri 03-Jun-05 17:48 | And a few more images from the practice service area. |
| Fri 03-Jun-05 18:26 | Rally America has a guest photographer this weekend, Pete Kuncis (www.onalimbricing.com). His pictures from the practice stage will be up shortly under the pictures tab. We will be signing off for the night, please check back tomorrow begining at 9:00am for the latest news from Parc Expose and the rally. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 09:35 | Good morning from Wellsboro, Pennsylvania and the start of STPR 2005. There have been some changes made to the start order with Car 18, Iorio / Holter leading the field out at 10:31am. Car 947 stopped by to let us know that they are regrettably withdrawing from the event. After four days of trying to diagnose and fix an electrical problem they were forced to call it quits. Their last chance was to bring the car here to the rally and enlist the help of their fellow competitors. The hope was that somebody else would be able to find what they may have overlooked. They would like to thank everyone for their help and support. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 10:17 | This is the 29th running of the Susquehannock Trail ProRally. STPR originally started with an interest in stage rallies and has grown to one that is recognized by the FIA. With over a quarter century of history, the cars and teams have definitely changed, but the spirit and competition is still as exciting and fierce as it was at STPR's inception. Past Winners of STPR include: John Buffum, John Woolf, Rod Millen, Paul Choiniere, Carl Merrill, Frank Sprongl, Doug Sheperd, Mark Lovell, David Higgins, and Shane Mitchell. Shane will be starting 11th today in an effort to defend his 2004 win; the only other previous winner to be competing today is Paul Choiniere, who will be starting in the 4th position. STPR is the 3rd round on the Rally America National Championship Schedule. Sno * Drift is the 1st; defending open class and overall champion Car 1, Richard / Richard won that event. Oregon Trail was the 2nd round and seemed destined to shape up to be an interesting battle between Car 1, Richard / Richard and Car 65, Blomqvist / Gullick, but mid-rally transmission problems took Car 1 out and Car 65, Blomqvist / Gullick won with a commanding lead. There are several teams who are fully capable of winning STPR 2005 and once again, the prospect of an interesting battle for the win appears imminent. The first car out will be at 10:31 AM, and all teams will be starting at one minute intervals. Dust is not projected to be a problem today due to the rain yesterday, so there will be no two minute windows. Despite the rain yesterday, it is predicted to be 68 and dry today!!! |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 10:41 | The start order has changed from our posting last evening. The top five will be as follows: Car 18, Iorio / Holter Car 65, Blomqvist / Gullick Car 43, Block / Gelsomino Car 11, Choiniere / Becker Car 74, Lagemann / Williams |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 10:46 | We have a few notes from the parc expose this morning, which we will post before moving out to the next service. Due to the distance between service areas, there will likely be times throughout the day where we will not be posting, but stay tuned because we will be back!!! |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 10:51 | Car 945, Kelly / Kelly is excited to be here, and hopes for dry weather for all the crews and workers that have to be out in the conditions. Brendan is driving a Techsport built Subaru WRX that has a history of reliability, and is just looking to have some fun and finish today. The first time Brendan came to STPR was in 2002 to spectate, and had such a good time that, after a 12 year hiatus from rally driving, had the Subaru built. He is happy to having Bob riding with him today and says thanks to Whiskers for his help crewing. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 10:54 | The goal of Car 866, Penasack / Goldfarb is to go "easy and smart" today. TheWazoo Racing Subaru of Nashua WRX is running and looking great. Tim and Marc would like to thank their sponsor, Subaru of Nashua, as well as their crew, Austin Cate, Bill Grooms, and Jason Williams, for all their help and support. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 10:57 | Car 93, Olson / Johnson is glad to be here and would like to thank Conrad for getting them here, literally (as he flew them into the Wellsboro Airport). Bob would like to thank his wife, Rita. The team is optimistic about the day's prospects and are hoping for no rain. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 11:03 | Car 558, Cox / Bressen ended up with a small crack in the windshield after driving away without the hood pins latched. Everythings fine, the team said that everyone has to do that once! They would like to thank Advanceoffroad.com and jimpiercemotorsports.com. Jim would like to say hi to Kaari, he's really not ignoring you, just has no cell service. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 11:15 | Here are some pictures from the start of STPR |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 12:54 | Car 676, McElduff / Putnam had no odo on Special Stage 1. They replaced the clutch this morning and suspect that caused their odo problems. The team anticipates being able to fix it. Right now, Mark and Scott are just trying to get into the groove and "mesh", as this is their first rally together. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 12:58 | Car 11, Choiniere / Becker is "okay" and have no problems to report. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:01 | Car 429, Foust / Crouch is having computer issues and have found a wire that was cut that they believe to be the problem. Tanner and Scott felt they had a good run on Special Stage 1. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:04 | Car 44, Krolikowski / Krolikowski is doing pretty good. It is Henry's first time in the car in the last 4 months and despite being married, Cindy reports that it is hard to jump into the car with someone different (of late, Cindy has been co-driving for Wyeth Gubelmann). Henry and Cindy would like to thank John, David, and Chris. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:07 | Car 508, Ottey / McGarvery also report computer issues. Pam states that the computer went "screwy" after the Subaru Splash, when Tom turned off one of the remote coolers. In light of their history here, it is their goal to finish - jokingly Pam refers to STPR as "Stupid Trouble Plagued Rally". Pam used Jeff Secors quote of "anytime you finish at STPR, you win" as their motto for the weekend!! |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:11 | Car 65, Blomqvist / Gullick states the car is "spot on". In Stig's reserved fashion, he did not elaborate more than to say that they are "doing enough" (waiting for the day to progress), and that they are "being smart" (not taking chances). |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:11 | Car 18, Iorio / Holter had a rough water crossing on Special Stage 1. According to witnesses at the finish, the car almost cleared the water. Unfortunately, they came down hard on the far side of the stream breaking a driveshaft and bending up the front of the car. The crew, with some help from Chaste Automotive, was able to do all the necessary fixes to get them back on the road. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:12 | Car 779, Przybysz / Jozwiak is reporting no problems, and that everything is going well. They stated that despite it being "slippy" at the end of Special Stage 1, that it is so far, so good and they are glad it is not raining. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:15 | A few quick notes from the service after Special Stage 1: Car 48, Kearney / Bradley reports that Special Stage 1 was slippery and wet, and that they were sliding around because there was a lot of water left over from yesterday Car 874, O'Brien / Duffy report the conditions to be loose, but that they had a nice clean run on Special Stage 1 Car 866, Penasack / Goldfarb report no drama and a time of 6:31 on Special Stage 1 |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:16 | Car 945, Kelly / Kelly also sustained some damage at the water crossing on Special Stage 1. They hit hard and broke the radiator on impact. With help from Techsport, the team was able to replace the radiator at service and continue. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:23 | Some mechanical problems reported from the service area: Car 558, Cox / Bressen has a broken CV joint and it is making a "hellacious" racket, the team will be trying to fix it in the 15 minute service. The team has returned to the rally, but details are sparse. We will follow up and let you know!! Car 884, Stevens / Hagan loosened the skid plate at the Subaru Splash, but that the problem was minor and they will be fixing it. Other than that, the stage went great and they had a good run Car 186, Cuffe / Treanor reports that the power steering is gone. It appears that the rack and pinion is gone, and to fix it is a big job. It is their intention to run until it seizes. They are "happy enough" and know that they cannot set any record on the first stage, so they are just going to go as long as the car goes. Car 769, Kreisler / McKelvie broke a rear transmission mount (which also took out the oil filter). The team is still diagnosing additional problems, and although hoping to get it out of service before they are MPL'ed in the Sherwood Forest ClubRally, will definitely be back in for the Finger Lakes ClubRally this afternoon. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:24 | The North Coast Rally team at service. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 13:27 | Other victims of Special Stage 1 were Car 27, Gilligan / Peterson who reportedly broke a control arm prior to the water and had to be towed out at the finish. Car 72, Hamilton / Sabo is also out of the event, the car hydro-locked at the water crossing. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 15:48 | The cars had a thirty minute service at the Morris Fireman's Field and are now arriving at the green for the reseed and dinner break. We will have many updates from the first four stages coming to you soon. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 15:52 | Car 18, Iorio / Holter were preparing to change the rear diff and possibly the driveshafts at the Morris service. They are also down on power due to a bad turbo that is being changed here in Wellsboro. Ole tells us that it felt like they had a normally aspirated car. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 15:59 | Car 43, Block / Gelsomino was having some trouble in the hairpins on this mornings stages. Being the first time Ken had been on roads like these, he has a little learning to do to get it right. The team tells us that the road conditions are pretty good in most places, but there are some pretty sloppy spots here and there. Ken says if you are not staying on your toes going down some of the fast straights the sloppy puddles could be sketchy. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:05 | Car 65, Blomqvist / Gullick reports that, according to STPR records published in the route book, they broke the stage time records for Special Stage 2, Special Stage 3, and Special Stage 4. Everything is going well for the former World Rally Champion, no drama and no worries. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:09 | Rally America Medical Delegate Dr. Russ Norton stopped by to report that STPR participants had great questions for Hubert Gramling, Senior Rally Car Safety Consultant to the FIA and Jay Braxton from Hans Performance Products. Hubert's presentaion on Thursday about the latest research into driver and co-driver safety in the cockpit was well attended and generated a lively discussion. Several teams took the opportunity to try out the HANS Device in their cars. On behalf of the Rally Community we want to say a big Thank You to Hubert and Jay for their visit to STPR. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:18 | Car 429, Foust / Crouch damaged the left front of the car when they lost grip in the middle of a fast right hand corner on Special Stage 3. The great grip suddenly turned into soup sending them straight for a tree. They missed the tree, but were launched across the road by a large hole in front of the tree. Aside from the damage to the fender, they bent the control arm and suffered a flat. Their fender damage caused the spare tire to go flat as well. They are making the repairs needed and will press on despite losing more than ten minutes. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:25 | Car 945, Kelly / Kelly clipped a rock on Special Stage 2 and broke the rear arm, the team will not be continuing. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:28 | Car 91, Bottoms / Bosley had a good Special Stage 1, Special Stage 2, and Special Stage 3. On Special Stage 4 which they report as "horribly sloppy", they had a few mistakes and on one, overshot a junction. The team is trying to run cleanly, and want to keep pushing. Their goal going forward is to try and push even harder. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:29 | Car 11, Choiniere / Becker are feeling the effects of the new restrictor in their Hyundai, "It's not the Hyundai of old". Despite being down on power, Jeff feels that things are going well for two guys that haven't done this in awhile. They tell us that the roads are drying pretty quickly on some places, even some light dust here and there. It is very humid here today and the concern for tonight is the potential for fog. Another concern is choosing the right tires to start on for the night stages of the rally. Overall, they are having a good time and plan on finishing. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:31 | Car 65, Blomqvist / Gullick says they are "not too bad". Everything is working well and they report the stages to be "nice, good, a bit fast and sloppy in a few places". Even though Stig says they had a few surprises, the team is unofficially sitting in 4th position. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:37 | Car 45, Mitchell / Patterson report the stages to be slippy, but good. Shane has not driven a rally since STPR last year, and is taking a little bit of time to get back into. It appears that they have gotten back into it, as they are currently being listed in the 2nd position. The top five are as follows: Car 11, Choiniere / Becker 33:53.6 Car 45, Mitchell / Patterson 34:06.3 Car 199, Pastrana / Edstrom 34:20.4 Car 65, Blomqvist / Gullick 34:31.6 Car 116, Lawless / Gillespie 35:00.4 |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:37 | Car 44, Krolikowski / Krolikowski are "Slow!" They are having some sort of transmission problem and things are just not flowing correctly. The team is rather disappointed, but they are doing everything they can. Cindy said "we'll just see, we hope to be there at the finish. This is Henrys first gravel rally since LSPR 2004. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:40 | Car 676, McElduff / Putnam report no drama. After a problem earlier with the odometer, it now appears to be fine. Scott would like to say hi to Kathryn. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:52 | We have heard reports that Car 74, Lagemann / Williams is off and OK at the start of Special Stage 4 with a mechanical problem. Car 143, Whiteman / Paulin is reported to be off on Special Stage 4 after shearing off all four lugs on the left front wheel. The team is OK and waiting for their crew to come and get them. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 16:53 | Car 964, Anton / Coombs report the first 4 stages as follows: Special Stage 1 Conservative run Special Stage 2 Good Special Stage 3 Things were clicking Special Stage 4 They had trouble in spots...one of them being a bump to the front right corner that ripped of the brake caliper and caused the line to loosen. This resulted in a loss of brake fluid and brakes!! The came in to service with only the use of the handbrake. They have fixed the problem!! Just prior to the rally starting, the car would not start and it just happens that their service vehicle is also a Subaru, so they borrowed Eamon's battery and started the day! Thanks Eamon. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 17:06 | After being told on Special Stage 3 by Christian that he was driving like a grandma (no offense to grandmas), Travis turned it up on Special Stage 4 setting the fastest stage time. The team is having a great time and are enjoying the competition. They are sitting in third overall and first in Group N after four stages. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 17:08 | sitting second in both Open and Overall Car 45, Mitchell / Patterson. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 17:14 | Car 774, Dimiters / Monin damaged the drivers side of of the car when they slid sideways into a few small trees in a spot on Special Stage 4 that was slipperier than normal. The damage was not rally ending. Other than their off, they are enjoying the great stages. Thanks to the North Coast Rally Crew and to Peter's fiance, Lauren, who drove to the rally to bring him his drivers suit that he left at home. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 18:46 | We have just arrived at the Germania service area where we will be for the rest of the night. We have a few more updates to post from earlier and we are expecting the cars to arrive starting at 6:50 PM. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 18:56 | Car 866, Penasack / Goldfarb states the car is holding together well. The rotors did crack after the Subaru Splash, but did not appear to be cracked in the earlier service (after Special Stage 1). The team changed them in service. All is going smoothly with the goal of going easy and smart. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 18:59 | Car 93, Olson / Johnson has come through the day relatively unscathed. The car stalled after the water crossing and they had to push the car across the finish control of Special Stage 1, eventually, the car just "came out of it" and is now going well. The team would like to thank Matt Himes and Russ Johnson for the engine in the car - "it is a rocketship". |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 19:03 | Car 69, Sherrill / O'Neal is having a wonderful rally. They love the roads and are very excited that the event is running flawlessly. Charlie, as an organizer, can appreciate the placement of the banners and arrows, and states they are well placed. He states that, as usual, STPR is well run. The team would like to thank the insurance company first of all, as well as Rally America, the organizers, and community. They would also like to thank their sponsor, Foreign Cars Italia. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 19:03 | Matthew Johnson is keeping busy this weekend even though he doesn't have a car here. He is crewing for the North Coast Rally Team supporting Car 874, O'Brien / Duffy and Car 48, Kearney / Bradley. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 19:13 | Car 116, Lawless / Gillespie was delayed on Special Stage 1 and lost some time, as they were stuck behind Car 27, Gilligan / Peterson after their problems. After that, the team lost their brakes, which they changed in the Morris service earlier. The teams states that the rally starts after the afternoon parc expose at the Green. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 19:15 | Car 779, Przybysz / Jozwiak lost 3rd gear on Special Stage 2, and there is really nothing they can do about it, so they are continuing on. Due to the fact that this is a fast rally, it is not much of a problem (except on the uphills). |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 19:32 | Jeff Secor let us know that Car 587, Johnston / Kihurani has some extra incentive to keep his car on the road today. The car was driven to the rally, so it's Matt's way home! |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 19:38 | Car 200, Fairbanks / Greenhouse dropped off an update form to let us know what happened on Special Stage 4. "On stage 4 we were doing well, but drifted wide on a tight left and impacted the bank to the outside. We were able to complete the stage on 2 flat tires (RF & LR), and make it back to Wellsboro, but the cars handling is unsafe at speeds greater than 35 mph. We cannot continue in the Finger Lakes Club Rally, but would like to thank Car 629, Rastatter / Williams for the use of their spare tire. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 19:40 | Car 769, Kreisler / McKelvie tell us "We hit the water at the splash and then a rock under the water. A fitting on the engine was damaged and we had to retire. Our Rally was too short!! There's always next year." |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 20:17 | Car 143, Whiteman / Paulin were nice enough to drop off an update form telling us the real story of their problem on Special Stage 4. " A half mile after the start of Special Stage 4 all five wheel studs sheared off on the left front wheel. The wheel rolled into the forest at 60 mph. This forced the team to retire. The car is repaired and the drivers were not injured." |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 20:27 | Car 199, Pastrana / Edstrom had an off on Special Stage 6 and hit something bending the control arm. They were able to continue and started Special Stage 7. But, due to the damaged sustained on Special Stage 6, they went off again on the third corner into the stage. Somehow, the car came to rest blocking the road making it impassable. The competitors that followed were able to move the car and get it restarted. Due to the delay, the first car will be leaving service in Germania at 9:01 pm. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 20:33 | Car 11, Choiniere / Becker, 2 time winner of STPR, is still leading. Paul is not saying much yet except that he is taking it all in, the car has no issues and the roads are very good. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 20:35 | Unofficially, the top five are as follows: Car 11, Choiniere / Becker 1:14:03.0 Car 45, Mitchell / Patterson 1:14:19.8 Car 65, Blomqvist / Gullick 1:15:38.5 Car 116, Lawless / Gillespie 1:16:38.7 Car 1, Richard / Richard 1:16:39.8 |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 20:38 | Car 43, Block / Gelsomino, currently in the 6th position, is feeling good about the rally. Ken is liking the long straightaways and really tight corners, and states these are a new experience for him. Ken's goal is to get more experience and have fun. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 20:41 | Car 27, Gilligan / Peterson states "we're back!". Due to their DNF this morning, the team is just using the rest of the day as a test session. Everythin is back together and working fine. Chris would like to tell his mom and Amy that everything is fine, and they are doing well! |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 20:45 | Car 676, McElduff / Putnam is reported to be having transmission and/or clutch problems, they are said to be limping back to service from the end of Special Stage 6. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 20:45 | Car 1, Richard / Richard has been having a rough day. They have been down on power all day. Earlier today, they changed the turbo because they thought it might be the problem, and although it helped, they are still down on power. In addition to that, they are also having handbrake issues, and on these last few stages, where they could have used it, they were unable to, and are losing time because of that also. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 20:50 | Car 45, Mitchell / Patterson are down on power and came into service with no power steering. The crew has fixed the power steering but are not sure if the engine is fixed. They are currently running second, 16.8 seconds behind Car 11, Choiniere / Becker. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 21:22 | There are a few other cars reporting power issues: Car 91, Bottoms / Bosley feels that something is off, they are down on power and having some electrical issues. They are concerned now, that since they will need lights, the problem will become worse. Car 173, Lilly / Gallagher also reports being down on power. Everything else is fine. An update on Car 45, Mitchell / Patterson, the crew was working until the very last minute trying to fix the power issue. We are not sure if they were able to fix it, but they were replacing everything they could think of to help. The team was able to leave service, with only 10 seconds to spare. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 21:30 | Cars have just started Special Stage 8. The cars are off to run Special Stage 8, Special Stage 9, and Special Stage 10 before finishing the rally at the Grand Canyon State Airport. We expect that the first car will be arriving at the finish about 12:15 am. We will be packing up and heading to the finish, we will be off the air for at least an hour. Please check back for the final results. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 21:34 | Here are some miscellaneous photos from the days events. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 21:37 | And some more photos. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 21:39 | Waiting for the cars at Germania service. Can you name the people on the merry-go-round? |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 23:12 | We are now positioned at the Wellsboro Airport which will be the final stop of the night. The rally is currently running about 30 minutes behind so we are not expecting the first car to be in until 12:15 AM. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 23:20 | Car 811, Okula / Pelc is being reported as off at 5.9 miles into Special Stage 8. The crew is fine and they are waiting for their crew to trailer them out. Car 910, Egan / Byrne is also being reported as out on Special Stage 8 and are waiting for the sweep to "right him up". The crew is ok and have not requested their crew. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 23:24 | Net control is reporting that Car 11, Choiniere / Becker has finished Special Stage 10 at 11:19 PM. They were originally scheduled to finish at 10:27 PM. In addition to the 30 minutes that we were already running behind, apparently, there was an issue with rowdy locals on Special Stage 9 and the stage was transitted, causing further delay. |
| Sat 04-Jun-05 23:37 | Car 964, Anton / Coombs is being reported as being DNF'd on Special Stage 10. They have notified their crew. No further details are currently available. |
| Sun 05-Jun-05 00:44 | The cars have arrived at the airport and the scores are currently being updated. The top three overall finishers are: Car 11, Choiniere / Becker Car 45, Mitchell / Patterson Car 65, Blomqvist / Gullick |
| Sun 05-Jun-05 01:01 | The champagne is sprayed for Overall. |
| Sun 05-Jun-05 01:25 | Car 18, Iorio / Holter were able to finish 7th Overall and 4th in Open due to an extraordinary effort by their crew. The car ran great after the team spent the two hour break fixing all that had gone wrong in the morning. Matt said that they were tired, but at least they made it. |
| Sun 05-Jun-05 01:39 | We found out that the very long stage time for Car 429, Foust / Crouch on Special Stage 5 was due to a puncture of the right front tire. They rubbed against a sharp rock that tore the sidewall, it then exploded and tore up the right front fender. Despite their troubles today, the team brought the www.flatironstuning.com Subaru home to a 3rd place finish in PGT. |
| Sun 05-Jun-05 02:10 | Car 931, Kennedy / Kennedy(Matt driving the first half), sponsored by Steve Moyer Subaru in Leesport, PA and KAM Specialties in Reading, PA, dropped off a few update forms to the RA truck. "The conditions were good on Special Stage 1. It was the first stage - took it easy to feel out the conditions. Caught and passed Car 200, Fairbanks / Greenhouse who had an issue. It was a fun stage though! SS# 2 was good and the roads were tacky. Getting comfortable with the car and Dad was clicking with the notes on his first event reading them instead of listening to them. There was better grip than expected, we only got sucked to the side once!! We were feeling good on Special Stage 3, even grabbed 4th gear more times than I can remember. We're having lots of fun. Hi to Holly, Moniqua, and Nancy. Now while Don drove... "The first stage behind the wheel was Special Stage 5 and it was great hard packed roads with no dust. Today's going good and fast, until a noise in the rear started. We stopped 13.39 miles in with rear suspension problems," |
