Rally America, a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based corporation, was created in 2002 by longtime rally driver and CPD Rally Team owner, Doug Havir and currently holds the sanctioning and marketing rights to the Rally America Championship.
Initially, Rally America’s purpose was to support the Sports Car Club of America’s ProRally Championship with timing and scoring efforts. At the conclusion of the 2004 season the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) transfered the commercial and sanctioning rights of ProRally and ClubRally to Rally America, Inc.
Utilizing the existing SCCA Performance Rally Rule Book along with a few changes, Rally America then created its own rally championship in 2005 - now known as the Rally America National Championship and various Rally America Regional Championships.
Today, Rally America is based in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Daily operations are managed by J.B. Niday, Rally America’s Managing Director, with Mike Hurst as Technical Director. Paul Giblin and Ananda Siverts handle the marketing and public relations duties. The rally events throughout the year are supported by hundreds of dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers.
Each year, Rally America sanctions a combination of regional and national level rally events attracting thousands of spectators and the best rally drivers, co-drivers and support teams in North America. Because of this, the Rally America National Championship is now considered by many to be the premier rally championship in North America.
In 2009, we’ll bring you the 9-round Rally America National Rally Championship from January through October supported by at least 20 regional rally events. These exciting events will take place in eight different states across the country - from Maine to Washington and from Michigan to Missouri.
