Driver // Billy Mann
An active fan of motorsports since he was a kid. From going downtown to watch the Detroit Grand Prix to racing the local go-karts Billy Mann has always had a passion for cars and racing. His true passion for racing came when he found out about rally from watching WRC events on television and playing games like Mobile 1 Rally Championship and the Colin McRae series games.
Being a Michigan Technological University graduate, he experienced first hand rally in the USA at the Lake Superior Pro Rally in 2001. After graduation, he began competing in autocross and rallycross events in 2007 and has come out with class championships in street tire A modified class with the Michigan Sports Car Club and fighting for the overall points championship in only his second season. His first large scale motorsports event was competing in the 24 hours of LeMons Detroit(ish) race in Toledo, Ohio in 2008. There his team finished 15th out of a 60 car field.
Billy has been rallying since 2008 and has been steadily gaining experience and speed. A regular on the podium, he not only shoots for class wins but overall victory as well. Together with girlfriend and co-driver Mary Warren, they achieved an overall victory on the first day of comeptiton at Rally Tennessee in 2011, an impressive win for their two wheel drive Civic in a field of more powerful turbo and all wheel drive cars. Other impressive results have been 5th place Sno*Attack in 2011 and 3rd place MaxAttack! two wheel drive at the 2011 Lake Superior Performance Rally.
How did you get started in Rally or Rallycross?
I always liked cars, starting as a kid watching races on tv (mainly open wheel racing). Then I was finally tall enough to ride go-karts and I was hooked. From then on, it’s become an addiction to feed.
