Driver // Dillon Van Way

Dillon Van Way is architecture major at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. At the age of 6 his father taught him how to ride a dirt bike in their backyard. It was at that point that he had his first taste of the addictive nature of going fast. From there, he started competitively racing motocross with his family. The speed and thrill of winning races was so exhilarating that he constantly searched for sports and hobbies that would give him that same feeling.
He remembers being online when he was twelve and seeing all of these cars jumping and sliding through the dirt in photos and videos. He thought to himself, ‘this is perfect!.’ It seemed like a natural next step for him to go from two-wheels to four-wheels in a similar setting. When he turned 16 and got his license, he was instantly on the hunt for a car and landed on a Ford Focus. A few years of fun and learning later and he achieved several 2WD podiums in a Ford-backed turbo-charged Fiesta.
As Van Way is constantly progressing and pushing himself to the next level, he knew he had to take the step up to a Super Production car from the two-wheel drive class so in the fall of 2013, he made the switch to a 2013 Subaru STI prepared and run by Vermont SportsCar. With three Rally America National Championship races under his belt in the car, he’s stood on the Super Production podium all three times including a win and also a third place finish on the overall podium.
For 2014, he is on the hunt for the Super Production Championship title. With the backing of his team, who are well versed in winning championships, and with his incredible progression and consistent driving style, Dillon Van Way is a becoming a favorite for the season title.
