Round 3 takes rally drivers to the lush forests of western Oregon. The rally takes place through old growth tree stands and logging roads deep in the Tillamook State Forest. The roads are twisty with occasional fast sections, and are lined with ditches and trees.
LOCATION | Portland, OR
The 2006 Oregon Trail Rally features spectator friendly stages, starting Friday afternoon at Portland International Raceway. Two stages each are run on the track's tarmac and around the complex's gravel perimeter. Highlight will be two night stages (7-9pm) as fans walk the infield parc expose, watch cars sprint around the lighted PIR motocross park stage, or from the centrally located festival curves grandstand to view car's rally lights buzzing out and around the PIR complex perimeter and back to the track finish line!
The bulk of the rally is spent on forest roads west of Portland, in the Trask and Vernonia areas. Spectator sites are accessed off of Hwy 6 on Saturday, and off of Hwy 26 on Sunday.
CONDITIONS |
The Pacific Northwest is notorious for rapidly changing weather conditions. Drivers may run one stage with dry dusty weather and the next with rain and fog. In extreme cases snow is possible, so expect a good chance of anything!
