Rally America is happy to announce the Rally Colorado photo contest winners. 1st place receives a subscription to Subiesports magazine and a Driving Sports TV DVD. The two runner's up both receive Rally America swag from the Rally America Store.
1st Place:
Brian Laiche from Albuquerque, NM has always known about rally racing, but it was not until his purchase of a Subaru WRX that he started following the sport. Eventually, this led him to attend his first event at Rally Colorado where he took a photograph of Travis Pastrana at the Stage 8 Breeze Basin spectator area.
“I had a lot of photo’s to choose from and honestly this wasn’t my first pick,” explains Brain, “I decided this picture shows rally at its best compared to my other photos.”

Brian chose wisely because the photo contest judges liked what Brian saw to take the grand prize win! He will be sent a Subie Sports Magazine subscription and a Driving Sports TV DVD.
2nd Place:
Gustav Wold from Boulder, CO was unable to be reached by the time this article was published.
3rd Place:
Scott McGuire from Salt Lake City, UT remembers the first time he saw a rally car in 1998. Scott was living in Maine and saw a rally car driving through the streets. Peaking his interest, Scott researched rally racing and convinced his father to drive him an hour and half to the Maine Forest Rally in Rumford, ME to see what they were doing there. Ever since that moment, Scott has been hooked on rally!
“I still remember the first Subaru I saw fly by on the first spectator stage and ever since then I have been in love with Subaru’s,” exclaims Scott, “I now own a Subaru thanks to the Maine Forest Rally.”
This was the first year Scott attended Rally Colorado. The picture that won 3rd place in the contest was not even in his top 5 favorite photos. “After going through my pictures, I tried figuring out what people would like and not necessarily the picture I would like the most,” explained Scott. “The reason I chose this picture is because it shows what a rally race is like; sideways car, gravel being thrown, dust in the background and the bright race graphics.”
