..and wraps up his fourth consecutive Rally America National Championship. Although he didn't make it through the final stages without some drama; "there were deer all over the road, I just knew I was gonna hit one" said Pastrana. But the team navigated through the deer and won the rally by a margin of nearly nine minutes.

After overcoming adversity on day one of the rally, Car #176 Mancin / Wislawski, was able to press on and take second in the Ojibwe Forests Rally. This was only the team's second podium and best finish so far.

Markut first podium!  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
Car #684, sits third in the Ojibwe Forests rally, and you've never seen somebody so surprised to be called to the podium. The team rarely runs in the National, and they never expected to be at the top of the field! The team is thrilled about their finish and actually appear to be a little stunned!

The top three in the Ojibwe Forests Rally are:
Car #199 Pastrana / Edstrom
Car #176 Mancin / Wislawski

Mirra out?  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
Reports from the stages are that #40, has DNF'd on SS14. We are unsure of the details at this time as the Rally America truck is back in Bemidji with no radio reception.

Patrana maintains lead  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
After eleven stages, Car #199 Pastrana / Edstrom holds onto a large lead while Car #40 Mirra / Ringer, and Car #684 round out the top three.

We are getting ready to head to the finish of the rally at the Bemidji Curling Club. Teams have been given an extra minute window between cars due to dust; we expect to see the first car around 9:30 tonight.

Osage Service  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
Service is underway in the town of Osage. Cars will be here around 40 minutes before heading out to run the final four stages of the day. We have not seen any obvious damage to the cars entering service, we'll let you know if we find out any news.

Offs and retirements  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
The first set of stages today were a challenge for a number of competitors.

Car #198 Gruszka / Wronski, rolled at the finish of SS8 and reportedly had a small fire. The team is OK, but their rally is over.

Car #93 Olson / Ketelsen's day ended when they ended up with a "large stick stuck in their radiator" and are done for the day.

Car #751, has withdrawn due to illness.

Car #12 Babcock / Penley, has rolled on SS11. The team is OK and sweep is tending to the car at this time.

Utecht  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
Car #83 Utecht / Bohn are stretching the legs of a new pony this weekend! The team is driving a 2010 Mustang, specially prepared for this rally, courtesy of Ford’s The ’10 Unleashed contest that they won. By the grins on their faces, Utecht and Bohn are having a great time, although the car is quite a change for their regular Mustang rally car, a 1986. The team is very proud that they were able to bring home a win in the Paul Bunyan’s Ride regional rally yesterday.

Zedril  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
Car #708, has been upgraded in the year since we’ve seen the team compete. They have moved from a production car to a more modified class of car. They’ve replaced the motor with a 2008 Lancer motor, put in a new diff, and upgraded the brakes among other things. “We now have brake bias, we’re living the good life now” smiled Jan. “The car’s great, now it’s up to us” added Jody. The team is thrilled to be back competing here in the U.S.; “this is hands down our favorite event, we wouldn’t miss it.”

MaxAttack!  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
The leader of the MaxAttack! Championship, Car #90 O'Sullivan / Jankowski, plan on continuing to have fun and stay clean today. “The MaxAttack! Championship is a very special deal, we really want to hold onto that” said O’Sullivan. The team is also leading 2 wheel drive and sits 5th overall in the rally.

New head gasket for Mancin  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
Car #176 Mancin / Wislawski, was able to locate a new head gasket last night (in fact they got a spare) and installed it at this morning’s Parc Expose. The radiator was also changed as the one in the car had ballooned out at the sides. They are running the first set of stages right now, hopefully their problem is solved.

Tune in tomorrow  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
The Ojibwe Forests Rally will finish up tomorrow. The day starts out at the Northwest Technical College at noon with an hour long Parc Expose where the fans can meet the drivers and see the cars up close. Day one finishing up  - Saturday, August 29, 2009
At the end of day one, the leader board is as follows:

#199
#40
#176

#199, has a commanding lead of nearly four minutes on the field, it would seem they have the rally all wrapped up. But in Pastrana's own words, "it's rally, you never know what will happen."

Cars running final stages  - Friday, August 28, 2009
Here are some updates on what we know at this point.

#70, who were stopped earlier, were having trouble with a fuel pump relay, they were able to make it to service and continue.

#116, is out on SS5 with a blown turbo. #308, is also out with a turbo problem.

#171, is out after an off on SS3; the team is OK.

Also reported off on the stages since service is #93, and #491.

MaxAttack!  - Friday, August 28, 2009
#90, lead the 17 car MaxAttack! field over #333, and #83. This is the final round of the three event MaxAttack Challenge. The MaxAttack! Challenge is still anyone's to win; expect this to be the place for some heated competition.

The MaxAttack! Rally Series is a three race rallying championship for two-wheel-drive cars, consisting of three premier North American rally events. At stake is the year-end trophy, a very special memorial trophy named after Jake Himes, a rally driver and well-known, colorful member of the North-American rally community, co-founder of the MaxAttack! Rally Series, and a person who fully embodied the spirit of MaxAttack!

Pastrna with large lead after stage four  - Friday, August 28, 2009
It was an "epic battle" between teammates #199, and #43; each was trying to ensure they would have the lead going into the dusty night stages. That battle ended when Block rolled on SS3. With Mancin having mechanical problems, Pastrana has a nearly three minute lead. For a rally driver that kind of a lead is a blessing and a curse; having to maintain 100% concentration while backing of enough to ensure a finish is a difficult task.

Blown head gasket  - Friday, August 28, 2009
Car #176 Mancin / Wislawski, are looking to replace their head gasket after a broken thermostat on the practice stage yesterday. They aren't losing power, but due to overheating, they are unable to push. Right now the team is looking at their options for a new head gasket, even the potential of sacrificing the street car.

Block rolled  - Friday, August 28, 2009
Reports are that Car #43 Block / Gelsomino, has rolled approximately eight miles into SS3. The team is out of the car and OK. Unfortunately, it looks likes any chance the team had at the Championship may be gone.

Another early off  - Friday, August 28, 2009
Car #70 Duplessis / Woods, is off one mile into SS2, they are OK. Again, we'll get you more info as soon as we can.

Car 61 off  - Friday, August 28, 2009
It has been reported that Car #61 Wiktorczyk / Dorman, is off and parked on the side of the stage road. We'll update you as more information becomes available.

Practice stage trouble  - Friday, August 28, 2009
Unfortunately for one team, Car #667, their rally ended very early. The team was forced to withdraw after hitting a large rock on the practice stage held yesterday. They worked all day to try and find parts, but were unsuccessful. The team plans to try their luck again at LSPR.

It was also reported that Car #600 Van Way / Knott also hit a rock in practice, the same rock. Their car was undamaged and are able to start the rally today.

The start order has been set  - Friday, August 28, 2009
The field will be led by Car #199 Pastrana / Edstrom (but not until SS2, remember SS1 starts in reverse order) followed by Car #43 Block / Gelsomino and Car #176 Mancin / Wislawski. The light rain is a welcomed sight, the normally very dusty roads of the Ojibwe Forests rally may be tamed slightly.
