Team Prepares and Practices for Sno*Attack
Tuesday, January 12, 2010
With the 2010 season quickly approaching, team ShadowRally is making final preparations for the Sno*Drift rally and inaugural Sno*Attack competition. Over the past few weeks the team has fitted the 1987 Dodge Shadow with a softer suspension and new Hakkappelita snow tires. These upgrades will help the team carry speed through the always slick Sno*Drift roads.
To shakedown the car and practice for this years Sno*Drift performance rally, the team ran the Son of Sno*Drift TSD Tour Rally on January 9th. Driver Greg Woodside explained, “Even though TSD speeds are not as fast as performance rally, the twisty roads and slippery conditions are a great way to prepare for the upcoming event”.
The team has had great success at Sno*Drift in previous years including Group 5 regional rally victories in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009. The team is looking forward to the additional challenge that this year’s Sno*Attack competition offers. The Sno*Attack is a fight for contingency money that will be awarded to the top five 2WD teams. All 2WD teams are eligible for Sno*Attack including regional and national teams that compete in Group 5 and Group 2 vehicles.
This years Sno*Drift will also be a unique one for team ShadowRally. Team member Mark Vojtisek will put down the wrenches and move from service crew member to co-driver for Saturday’s portion of the rally. Primary co-driver Tom Woodside will have the right seat for the Friday’s stages. J. Jon Wickens will lead the vehicle service as crew chief at Sno*Drift with his wealth of performance rally experience.
Team ShadowRally is still pursuing sponsors for Sno*Drift and their other races this season. Interested sponsors (big or small) should contact sponsorship@shadowrally.com for more information on our promotional opportunities.
