Block Retires After SS10, L’Estage Takes Lead

Saturday, June  5, 2010
Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino (Car #43) of the Monster World Rally Team have been forced to retire after SS10. Their Ford Fiesta had been having troubles related to the fuel system that could not be diagnosed during Service I. They lost power to the car on SS10 and also had gearbox problems.

Block had been leading the rally since day one and was well on his way to repeating his 2009 STPR victory until this misfortune took him out of the event.

Rockstar Energy Royal Group driver Antoine L’Estage now holds the rally lead with a comfortable cushion over championship rival, Bill Bacon, who moves up to second overall. Bacon stated that he has no intention of trying to catch L'Estage and would be happy finish second. With Block and Mirra out of the event, SP frontrunner Ramana Lagemann is positioned to finish third overall on the national podium as the Super Production class battle continues.
