A number of Rally America National Championship competitors return to action in this weekend’s Sno*Drift Summer Rally for the first time since May’s Southern Ohio Forest Rally or earlier. We’ll be profiling some of those competitors all week long leading up to the event!

They may go by Sneak Attack Rally, but it’s hard to sneak up on the competition when you’re as fast as Nathan Usher and Marianna Langosch have been over the past year.

Usher and Langosch chased the Rally America National Championship last year in their Open Light car and came out second in the Super Production class (which Open Light cars were scored in last year) and third overall. Their successes included overall podiums at Sno*Drift and Show-Me Rally, as well as a win at Sno*Drift Summer Rally last August.

The 2018 season has been more of the same. After kicking off the schedule last December with the overall win at Nemadji Winter Trail Rally, they posted a class win at Rally in the 100 Acre Wood and second in class at Southern Ohio Forest Rally. Langosch even got her first taste of driving in this year’s Sno*Drift, as the team expanded to two cars in a Rally America event for the first time.

As the defending winners at SDSR, expectations have to be high for Usher/Langosch. They’ll be third in the start order, behind only Piotr Fetela/Dominik Jozwiak and Dave Brown/Mike Brown. But after winning two of last year’s eight stages and finishing second on five others—their worst performance on any given stage was third—don’t be shocked if they end up going back-to-back at the event, or at worst standing on the podium yet again. After all, they were second overall in 2016, and third overall the year before.
