Rarely does the result of any rally go predictably, but the top three teams in the 2018 Rally America National Championship were also the top three teams in Saturday’s Sno*Drift Summer Rally. Led by Fetela Rally Team’s Piotr Fetela and Dominik Jozwiak with a time of 49:11.8, the duo took their third victory of the season by 10.5 seconds over championship leaders and Open Light class winners Dave and Mike Brown.

Defending SDSR winners Nathan Usher and Marianna Langosch took their impressive fourth podium at the event in the past four years, following up finishes of third in 2015, second in 2016, and a win last year with third in 2018. Last year’s runners-up, Henry and Cindy Krolikowski, took fourth, while Blind Deer Rallysport’s Jimmy Pelizzari and Kate Stevens completed the top five.

Sixth place Mike and Katherine Hurst not only led all of the event’s two-wheel drive cars, they also won the Daddy-Daughter Challenge with the fastest time of the five father-daughter crews to compete. Their total time of 54:27.2 was just over five minutes ahead of Eric and Camille Carlson. Meanwhile, Chris Sladek and John Sharps prevailed in the B-spec battle over Doug Gekiere and Matthew Hoffman by posting the 11th-fastest time of the event in their Honda Fit.

The 2018 Rally America National Championship resumes on September 7-8 with the second annual Rally Wyoming. Stay tuned to and the series’ social media accounts for more coverage of the 2018 season!
