Melissa Sherowski may have only made her Rally America National Championship co-driving debut a year ago in Wyoming, but she’s no stranger to the sport itself. Racing in rallycross and hillclimb events prepared her to join Bret Hunter in a camouflaged Honda CR-X at multiple Rally America events, most recently including July’s Rally Colorado. Today, we get to know Melissa a little better:

What made you want to start rallying?

After I sold my house in Park Hill, I bought a world rally blue Subaru Forester 2.5XT. I thought it needed to be raced. My friend told me to look up Colorado Rallycross. It was pretty much a downward spiral from there. I was a co-driver in my first CHCA hillclimb/stage rally at Colorado Offroad Extreme at the end of my first rallycross season. Now I've got three hillclimbs and three rallies under my belt.

When was your first event and how did you do?

Rally Wyoming 2017 was my first "real" stage rally co-driving experience. We had car issues from the beginning (electric fan failed on the first stage, which compromised the head gasket and we had overheating issues for the rest of the rally. We actually ended up third on one of the days.

Do you prefer to work with a single driver or multiple drivers?

I'll work with anyone I trust haha.

What’s your favorite event on the Rally America schedule?

Rally Colorado!

Do you have any pre-event routines?

Not really. Getting attached to certain routines doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Which other co-drivers in the sport do you respect the most?

Angelica Miller helped me a ton before my first Rally America event. She is awesome.
